Carrie Wintle, Miss Rushmore, and Rachel Evangelisto, Miss Siouxland, took home preliminary awards in the Talent and Swimsuit competitions at the Miss South Dakota Pageant Thursday night.
Wintle won the preliminary talent competition playing “Final Countdown” on the piano. Evangelisto took the swimsuit title wearing a pink two-piece.
Wintle is from Iroquois and recently graduated from University of South Dakota. Evangelisto is from Rapid City and attends University of Minnesota – Morris.
The talent award is a $1,000 scholarship, and $400 goes to the swimsuit winner.
The pageant continues tonight with another round of preliminary competition. The Pageant Parade took place Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. through downtown Hot Springs. The final competition is Saturday night.
Rachel Black age 18 of Rutland and Miss Oahe Days is in the competition at Hot Springs and Mitch Krebs of Fort Pierre is one of the five judges.
